Magnetotelluric measurement complements the data obtained by reflection seismic method in autumn 2024

[19.3.2025] In March 2025, magnetotelluric measurements were carried out in the vicinity of Litoměřice, Czech republic, with the aim of mapping the geological subsoil in detail. This method measures the electrical resistivity of rocks in the Earth's crust using three coils and two electric dipoles, and its range is 30 to 50 kilometres below the surface in uninhabited areas. Its results will complement data obtained in autumn 2024 by seismic survey at the same location. A thorough knowledge of the local geological environment will allow the deep geothermal wells planned by SYNERGYS project to be properly designed.
