SYNERGYS |
Project description |
SYNERGYS is a unique research and test site in Litoměřice, focused on geoenergy and other renewable sources. Geothermal energy will be extracted here using deep boreholes at depths of approximately 3,500 m. The shallow boreholes will be used to store thermal energy produced in summer by solar panels on the roofs of nearby buildings. The geothermal and solar systems will be complemented by hydrogen production by electrolysis. All these technologies will be linked into a functioning technological "ecosystem" that will be energy self-sufficient. At the same time, it will be possible to use surplus heat for heating in Litoměřice. The main objective of the project is to support municipalities and companies in the transition from fossil to green energy sources.

Main project goals |
- Increase the share of renewable energy sources in the energy system.
- Implement a set of experimental energy sources including shallow and deep geothermal energy in conjunction with solar energy and hydrogen as a system integrator.
- Increase the share of these sources in the production and storage of thermal and electrical energy.
- Identify technical, technological, economic, social and environmental barriers to the use of geothermal energy and other innovative sources and contribute to their elimination.
- Develop awareness of the different aspects of the energy transition through education, awareness raising and public communication.
- Enable regions and people to address the social, economic and environmental impacts of the transition, which is aimed at achieving the Union's energy and climate goals for 2030 and a climate-neutral Union economy by 2050 in line with the Paris Agreement, and the employment impacts of this transition.
