FindHeat

The FIND HEAT project - expertise and innovation connecting the industrial and academic spheres

Project title FindHeat
Project description

The FindHeat project develops a novel, conceptual model-based geothermal exploration workflow. A modular toolkit, the FindHeat platform, will provide innovative software tools and geophysical exploration techniques at significantly lower costs than the state-of-the-art.

Research activities

Main project goals
  • Advance the open-source Rapid Reservoir Modelling (RRM) software
  • Analyse the effectiveness of drone imaging, infrared spectroscopy, electromagnetic tomography and imaging
  • Quantify the economic benefits of the new, conceptual model-based geothermal exploration strategy
  • Demonstrate that basing geothermal exploration workflows on different conceptual models leads to higher success rates when developing a resource
  • Develop new communication strategies that are based on a social science analysis of the factors that shape public perceptions to earn trust with the broader public
  • Develop tailored training materials for the different experts (geoscientists, engineers, economists, lawyers) working in geothermal project development
